Fair Trade – Synod 07

Posted: October 10, 2007 in fair trade

The UnitingSpiritually Fair Trade Stall at Synod over the weekend was a huge success. We sold over $1000 worth of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and chocolate. The products were provided by Keiraview Uniting Church and State of Bean. THANKS to Fiona & Mick!

Meags even managed to put a proposal before Synod to make sure all Tea & Coffee used at future meetings will be Fair Trade! Great stuff Meags!

2007 Federal Election

Posted: October 4, 2007 in election07

The announcement of the election is surely only days away. I recieved in the mail yesterday a Federal Election resource from the Uniting Church entitled ‘your faith, your vote, your voice’. It lists the major issues the church sees as important and offers reflections on them.

you can check it out here.

These reflections and discussion papers will form most of our input for our wednesday night group and our thursday campus group in the lead up to the election.

Finally, if you’ve turned 18 since the last federal election, make sure you enrol to vote NOW! You must enrol by 8pm on the day the election is called – you can find out more here [half way down on the left], or get to any post office!
